This week in Red Oak Mobile Home Park History

Folks who new my grandfather, Sherm Degenhart, say there wasn’t anything he could not build or fix. I remember my dad telling me how Sherm made a washing machine out of a one stroke gas engine out behind the wash house of Buckeye Trailer Park down in Wright View Heights circa 1941. You see in the early days of trailer parks, homes did not have indoor plumbing and you had to use a wash house for bathing and comfort breaks.

So that brings us to ‘Today in Red Oak History’ in the photo below circa 1960 is Sherm working on routine maintenance on the front end loader in front of the old wash house in Red Oak Mobile Home Park.
